System Requirements For CP on NAS

Let us know what hardware your CouchPotato is running on and share some experience.
This is for "ready to use"-hardware, like NAS, MediaPlayers, etc, so no custom build servers.

System Requirements For CP on NAS

Postby lordhawhaw » 07 Jan 2016 17:23

The time has come to retire my Synology DS110J. Have tried running Sonnar, CP and NZBget on it, but the DS110J is way too enemic for these tasks. What are the minimum hardware requirements to look for in a new 2 Bay NAS in order to run the mentioned packages? I do my transcoding with a Mac Mini and watch Plex on an ATV 4 so transcoding abilities on the NAS are not vital. Have looked at all of Synologys 2 Bays, but I´m worried that even the fastest won´t cut it. Would really appreciate some suggestions. Will consider QNAP too... .

Thanks for the recommendation. I ended up with a Synology DS716+. Up and running fine, however, a few unsolved issues. Clicking on Sonarr from the synocommunity packages results in zilch. Do you or anyone out there have any experience with the Docker containers ? I tried them for Sonarr, Couchpotato and NZBget. The latter worked fine, but CP and Sonarr gave me errors, that due to my noobidity I didn´t understand... .

Have you considered building a little homeserver? Would quite possibly be cheaper than buying a nas and give more power + the option to upgrade in future :) Would also free up that mac you have for transcoding.
